The game is designed for 2–8 players, making it perfect for intimate game nights or larger parties. For the best experience, we recommend 3–6 players — this gives everyone plenty of time to craft and present their theories while keeping the energy high. With 2 players you get a head-to-head debate format, and with 7–8 players it becomes a full-blown conspiracy convention.

A typical game takes 20–45 minutes depending on the number of players and how deep your group goes with their theories. Quick rounds can be done in 15 minutes, while marathon sessions with passionate storytellers can stretch well beyond an hour. The modular nature of the game means you can play a quick round or a full tournament — you set the pace.

Rumor Has It is recommended for ages 14 and up. The card topics reference real-world events, historical figures, natural phenomena, and notable places — all presented in a fun, fictional context. While nothing is explicit or offensive, younger players may not catch all the cultural references. The humor works best with teens and adults who enjoy creative storytelling and a bit of absurdity.

The box contains 168 beautifully designed cards: 42 Events cards (gold), 42 Places cards (blue), 42 Nature cards (green), and 42 People cards (red). Each category includes 2 blank cards so you can create your own custom prompts. You also get a detailed instruction manual with multiple game modes, tips, and house rule suggestions. Everything is printed on premium, eco-friendly card stock.
